Your Semester Ticket is Going Digital

The semester ticket is going digital in time for the summer semester 2022.

JGU students from the Mainz campus will now be receiving digital semester tickets. You can simply pull them up with the JGU app.

The digital semester ticket for the summer semester 2022 is now available in the new app "JGU Ausweise" for all students who have re-registered.

Please note: In the future, you will no longer be able to display the semester ticket or student ID with the previous JGU app.

Your Digital Semester Ticket in 4 Steps

1. Pay your semester fee
  • Pay your semester fee by January 15, 2022, as usual.
2. Download the app "JGU Ausweise"
  • The app "JGU Ausweise" is now available in the Google Playstore and Apple App Store
3. Upload your ID photo
4. Pull up your digital semester ticket
  • You can easily access the ticket via the app "JGU Ausweise".

Digital Semesterticket vs. Digital Student ID Card

Please note: The digital student ID card and the digital semester ticket are two different forms of identification in the app "JGU Ausweise".

Semester ticket

In order to use public transport, you will need to pull up the digital semester ticket during a ticket inspection.

Make sure you update your ticket in the app using WiFi or mobile data prior to starting your journey.

Digital student ID card
You can use the digital student ID card in order to prove you are a student at JGU at the cafeterias on campus, for example.

You can find the application form for a paper ticket for the summer semester 2022 in JOGU-StINe at "Service" > "Applications" > "Electronic applications".

Please note: Make sure you only apply for the paper ticket if you do not intend to use the digital semester ticket. If you receive a paper ticket, your digital semester ticket will be blocked. It is not possible to have a paper ticket and a digital semester ticket at the same time.

We will send you a paper ticket by postal services.
You have to reapply for a paper ticket every semester. If you do not submit a request, you will receive a digital semester ticket by standard in the following semester.

Back to digital?

If you would like to change from the paper ticket to the digital ticket during the current semester, you can return your paper ticket to Student Services. We will reactivate the display of the digtial ticket.

In order to access personal data via the app "JGU Ausweise", you must log in. To do this, use the username and password of your university account. You also use the same data to log in to JOGU-StINe.

If your smartphone is too old or does not meet the necessary requirements, we will not be able to provide you with your semester ticket and your student ID card electronically. You need a paper ticket.

Your digital semester ticket for the next semester will be available after you have successfully re-registered. It is valid from the first day of the new semester.

To update your ticket, your smartphone must be connected to the Internet via WLAN or mobile data. In the overview of your tickets, you can see for each ticket how long the respective ticket is available offline. Since the last time your phone was connected to the internet, your ticket will still be displayed for 2 days.

After this time, you must retrieve the ticket online again.

Please note: To use public transport, you must show a ticket with a current validity date.

Make sure to update your ticket in the app via WLAN or mobile network before starting your journey.

If you use local public transport (ÖPNV), you must have a valid ticket when boarding. Therefore, before starting your journey, make sure that your digital semester ticket is available in the app "JGU Ausweise" and that your battery is sufficiently charged.

>> to the RMV conditions of transport.

According to the participating transport companies, this is not possible. We can only provide you with one form of the ticket at a time.

Even if you hold a digital semester ticket, you submit your application for exmatriculation via JOGU-StINe in the normal way. Be sure to observe the applicable deadlines for exmatriculation and refund.

If you hold a digital semester ticket, you do not have to apply for a refund; we will automatically refund your semester fee and cancel your digital semester ticket.
