If your smartphone is too old or does not meet the necessary requirements, we will not be able to provide you with your semester ticket and your student ID card electronically. You need a paper ticket.

In order for your student ID, or semester ticket, to be displayed, you must upload an ID photo in the account management (https://account.uni-mainz.de). Your photo must meet the following requirements:
- Image format that can be processed by your browser (for example JPG, JPEG)
- Image size of maximum 10 MB
You can share your image for 6 hours after the first upload. After that, the upload will be blocked for 90 days.
Semesterticket
You can get the ticket by:
- installing the latest version of the app "JGU Ausweise"
- uploading your ID picture in the JGU account management
- log into the app "JGU Ausweise" and pull up your digital semester ticket
Important: Without an ID picture, your student ID and semester ticket will not be displayed.
You can upload two different images. The account picture will be assigned to your university account and will be displayed e.g. in Teams, Moodle and the university mail. The ID picture is the requirement for displaying your ID and ticket and is only used for these documents. Make sure you are clearly recognizable in the photo.
Your digital semester ticket for the next semester will be available after you have successfully re-registered. It is valid from the first day of the new semester.
To update your ticket, your smartphone must be connected to the Internet via WLAN or mobile data. In the overview of your tickets, you can see for each ticket how long the respective ticket is available offline. Since the last time your phone was connected to the internet, your ticket will still be displayed for 2 days.
After this time, you must retrieve the ticket online again.
Please note: To use public transport, you must show a ticket with a current validity date. Make sure to update your ticket in the app via WLAN or mobile network before starting your journey. |
If you use local public transport (ÖPNV), you must have a valid ticket when boarding. Therefore, before starting your journey, make sure that your digital semester ticket is available in the app "JGU Ausweise" and that your battery is sufficiently charged.
According to the participating transport companies, this is not possible. We can only provide you with one form of the ticket at a time.
You submit your application as usual to the AStA's transport department. If your application is approved, we will validate your digital semester ticket for you.
Even if you hold a digital semester ticket, you submit your application for exmatriculation via JOGU-StINe in the normal way. Be sure to observe the applicable deadlines for exmatriculation and refund.
If you hold a digital semester ticket, you do not have to apply for a refund; we will automatically refund your semester fee and cancel your digital semester ticket.
