The first semester of the degree program “International Master of Biomedicine” takes place at the University of Luxembourg, the second at the Université de Strasbourg and the third at JGU. During the fourth semester, students participate in an internship in the field of biomedical research either in a science laboratory at a university or with an external partner. It is during this time that students write their Master’s thesis.
Master entrance requirements
- Students must either be able to present proof of having completed a bachelor’s degree with at least 180 credit points in the field of physiology, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, medicine or pharmacy or an equivalent degree from a university in Germany or abroad. All partner universities must agree that the degree qualifies the student to be admitted into the master’s program.
- Students must provide proof that their English is at a B2 level according to the Common European Framework for Languages. The forms of proof listed below will be accepted:
a) Proof that the university entrance qualification was acquired at an English-speaking institution
b) A degree that was completed in an English-language degree program
c) First Certificate in English (University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations) or a higher level (Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE))
d) IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with at least 5.5 points
e) TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), 213 (computer-based test, CBT), 79 (internet-based test, IBT), 550 (paper-based test, PBT)
f) Telc English B2
The test will not be counted as valid if it was taken any longer than three years prior to the application deadline.
Proof of German language skills is not necessary.
Application and selection process via Université de Strasbourg.
Selection process
The application for the degree program “International Master of Biomedicine” is carried out via the Université de Strasbourg. Candidates must submit their applications and the required documents to the Université de Strasbourg as requested by the Université de Strasbourg and in accordance with the deadlines set by the Université de Strasbourg. This is also the case if students are applying for a higher semester.
Even if the admission requirements have been fulfilled, students will only be admitted to the master’s program "International Master of Biomedicine” if the admission procedure is successfully completed. In accordance with the cooperation agreement, the selection and admission process is carried out at the Université de Strasbourg. When assessing the application documents during the selection process, the following criteria will be taken into consideration:
a) The admission requirements have been met in accordance with paragraph 1
b) Students’ previous scientific education and grades
c) Motivation for the degree program
d) Students have experience in an international context
e) Students have experience in the field of research.
