You want to apply for a restricted course of studies but have missed the deadlines or have applied but unfortunately did not get a place? Here you can find out how to participate in the lottery procedure at Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU).
Similar to a lottery, we draw remaining study places among all participants in the lottery. The grade of your university entrance qualification or your waiting times do not play a role.
If you intend to apply for music, you must first pass the aptitude test.

Find all courses that were part of the lottery in the last semesters in our german version of this homepage!
You must meet the following requirements to participate in the lottery procedure:
- Your certificate of recognition from JGU certifies that you have direct university access.
- The subject affiliation must correspond to your course of study (subject-affiliated university entrance qualification).
- Proof of DSH-2
Deadlines:
- Summer semester 2022: 1st of March 2022 - 31st of March 2022
- Winter semester 2022/23: 1st of September 2022 - 30th of September 2022
You can apply online via JOGU-StINe for the lottery procedure for the summer semester 2022. You will need an application account. To apply for an account, go to "Application/Registration" > "Generate account". You will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to activate your account.
Via the tab "Application/Registration" you can search for your subject in the study program. You will then find an entry in the list with the addition "Losverfahren".
After you have completed all sections, submit the application online. A paper application is not necessary.
