Subject Matter
The ability to deal with worldwide language varieties and with different linguistic cultures is a key skill without which mutual understanding and - ultimately also sustainable - international contacts are not possible. The program aims to take up these challenges by imparting basic skills needed to comprehend and describe linguistic variety from different theoretical and empirical perspectives. Skills in speech theory, linguistic knowledge, and communication are to be acquired and broadened on three interlinked levels. The Bachelor's degree program in Linguistics is aimed at new students who are interested in the communicative and inter-cultural aspect of language as well as those interested in speech theory and comparative linguistics.
